Established back in 1990 by a highly skilled fabricator and self taught design engineer called Andrew Burrows. Andrew had a passion for cars and set out with the objective to create his own brand of the iconic cars of the 60's which could be easily maintained by the enthusiast. His first unveiling was the GD 427, externally a replica of the AC Cobra 427 but under the sleek body a modern approach was revealed.
The car was, and still is, a huge success and was quickly voted 'Simply The Best' by Kit Car Magazine back in 1993. Then in 1994 it won a Gold award at the BBC Top Gear Classic and Sportscar Show as well as being voted 'Best Cobra Replica for Performance and Handling' two years in a row. Surely a fitting testament to the companies' dedicated approach in the production of high quality cars of the 60's.
Never standing still Gardner Douglas have continued to grow and develop boasting many firsts, including the first car of its kind to pass the SVA test and the first UK car company to introduce the superior GM LS V8 engine over the old American iron V8's. Today the range has expanded to include the Mk4 version of the GD 427, the GD T70 Spyder inspired by the Lola T70 which triumphed in the CanAm Championships, GD 350 and the much soon to be unveiled GD GT.
